Oleo Oil Buffers are hydraulic safety components installed in elevator pits or shaft overhead positions to absorb kinetic energy during emergency conditions such as uncontrolled descent, traction system failure, or overspeed events.
They are designed to reduce impact force between the elevator car or counterweight and the shaft structure by converting mechanical energy into controlled hydraulic resistance, ensuring safe deceleration and structural protection.
These buffers are widely applied in passenger elevators, freight systems, and high-rise building elevator safety systems.
Working Principle
In actual elevator failure conditions, two critical safety scenarios may occur:
Downward free-fall or overspeed condition
The elevator car impacts the pit-installed buffer. The piston compresses hydraulic oil through a precision damping system, converting kinetic energy into heat and fluid resistance, gradually reducing speed until full stop.
Upward overtravel condition (top collision protection)
When installed at the shaft top, the buffer reduces impact force between the car and overhead structure, preventing severe mechanical damage during uncontrolled upward movement.
This dual-direction protection ensures compliance with modern elevator safety engineering design requirements.

Model Selection Guidance (Engineering Decision Support)
To simplify project selection:
OH-30A → Standard passenger elevator systems (light to medium load applications)
OH-30B → Heavy-duty elevator systems with higher buffer mass requirements
If you are unsure about selection, our engineering team can provide compatibility verification based on your elevator parameters.
Compliance & Engineering Standards
Oleo Oil Buffers are designed and tested in accordance with international elevator safety requirements:
EN 81-20 / EN 81-50 (European elevator safety standards)
ASME A17.1 (North American elevator code)
GB 7588 (China elevator safety standard)
Engineering Proof Available:
We can provide test reports, batch inspection records, and compliance documentation for project approval, tender submission, and safety certification processes.
All units are traceable via production batch number for quality verification.
